Industry Disputes Methodology Used in Cleaning Products Study

A study by the Silent Spring Institute (Newton, MA) says a review of 213 cleaning products, cosmetics, personal care and other common consumer products show they contain “complex mixtures of endocrine disruptors and asthma-related compounds,” and that “toxicological studies of these mixtures are needed to understand their biological activity.” Consumers may be able to avoid certain substances including synthetic fragrances, bisphenol A (BPA), and regulated active ingredients using purchasing criteria, but more complete labeling would...
