PolyOne earnings rise on Spartech synergies

PolyOne today reported first-quarter net income of $29.4 million, or 31 cts/share, up 93.4% year-on-year (YOY), on sales up 25%, to $1 billion. Adjusted earnings totaled 44 cts/share, up 42% YOY. PolyOne's specialty segments, including the additives and inks and engineered materials businesses, led growth as the company benefitted from synergies related to the Spartech acquisition, PolyOne says. Colors, additives and inks segment sales were up 7% YOY, to $219.6 million, while segment operating income rose 25.6%, to $30.4 million. Designed structures and solutions...
