Lanxess and BioAmber Agree to Develop Renewable Plasticizers

After spending 2 years assessing the performance and market viability of succinate-based esters in the plasticizer market, Lanxess and BioAmber (Minneapolis, MN) have entered into a joint development agreement for non-phthalate plasticizers from biobased succinic acid. Under the terms of the deal, Lanxess and BioAmber will develop a portfolio of cost-competitive, succinic-based plasticizers that can exceed the performance of phthalates.
