Dow, BASF Move Up in Plastics Additives Market

The recent combinations of Dow Chemical and Rohm & Hass (R&H), as well as BASF and Ciba Specialty Chemicals has jostled market leadership positions for several markets, including plastics additives. The $32-billion market for plastics additives is expected to grow 4.5%/year through 2010, says market research firm Townsend Polymer Services & Information (Houston).
