Industry Groups Contest Prop 65 Listing for Cocamide

Industry groups have contested the proposed Prop 65 listing for cocamide, a chemically modified form of coconut oil used as a surfactant in many cosmetics and personal care products, according to Prop 65 News. At issue is the use of diethanolamine to process cocamide. Prop 65 requires consumer products to list ingredients that are “considered by the state of California” to be carcinogenic or reproductive hazards.
