Markets :: Specialty Chemicals :: Personal Care BASF Announces New SAP Capacity8:50 AM MDT | October 11, 2011 | Vincent Valk BASF has announced capacity for two new superabsorbent polymers (SAP) plants, one in Brazil and the other in China. Both plants will have a capacity of 60,000 m.t./year. The Brazil plant is part of a previously announced $721-million acrylic acid and SAP complex at Camacari, with an acrylic acid capacity of 160,000 m.t./year. The China plant will be run by BASF-YPC, a joint venture between BASF and Sinopec, at Nanjing. Construction in Brazil is scheduled to begin this year, while construction in China is scheduled to begin next year. Commercial production...
