Akzo says its Eka Chemicals pulp and paper chemicals business has agreed to buy H.C. Starck’s silica sol unit Levasil (Leverkusen). Levasil supplies silica sol as a raw material to mostly European paper, electronics, and construction markets. Levasil produces about 30,000 m.t./year of silica sol, Akzo says.
