Solvay and AkzoNobel partner to develop and use bio-solvents

Solvay and AkzoNobel have joined forces to develop and use biosolvents for use in the manufacturing of AkzoNobel paints, and coatings, Solvay announced. The agreement concerns widely used oxygenated solvents, specifically bio-butanol and bio-acetone and their derivatives. Solvay will considerably increase the use of renewable raw materials and biobased chemicals, boosting volumes up to 10,000 m.t./year.
