Higher Volumes Lift Results, But North America Finishes Flat

Most major paintmakers in the $71.3-billion global paints and coatings market reported improved fourth-quarter 2006 earnings, helped by higher selling prices and higher volumes. However, the North American architectural and automotive paint sectors are under pressure because of weakening construction, housing, and automotive markets, most paintmakers say.
