Arkema to Buy Total's Coatings Resins and Photocure Resins Units

 Arkema plans to acquire Total's coatings resins and photocure resins for a €550-million enterprise value. The deal will bolster Arkema's acrylics segment, and establish the company as a leader in the global coatings resins market. The acquisition will also "provide Arkema with new growth drivers in Asia," the company says.  Arkema expects the deal to close in first-half 2011.  The businesses to be acquired have combined estimated 2010 sales of €850 million, about 20% above year-ago levels.
