Chemtura earnings meet estimates; flame retardants difficulties continue

Chemtura today reported a third-quarter net loss from continuing operations of $44 million, or 45 cts/share, compared with earnings of $22 million in the year-ago quarter. Sales increased 4% year-on-year (YOY), to $569 million. On a managed basis, which excludes some charges related to early debt repayments, earnings totaled 10 cts/share, matching analysts’ consensus, as reported by Thomson Reuters (New York).
