EU food additives list enters into force

The European Union's list of authorized food additives takes effect on 1 June, replacing previous European directives with a single regulation, says the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA; Parma, Italy). The new EU list informs food industry operators of which additives may be used in food—including the additives' amounts and for which purposes—providing greater clarity for food operators and further strengthening consumer protection.
