Biotech Firm Protéus Awarded U.S. Patent for Protein Engineering

Protéus (Nîmes, France), a biotech firm recently has been granted a U.S. patent for protein engineering and directed evolution in the manipulation of organisms for making biochemicals. The newly awarded patent U.S. No. 7,923,236 is a counterpart to the company’s existing European patent for the same technology granted in 2010.   The patented technology belongs to the firm’s EvoSight protein engineering platform, which also includes the L-Shuffling technology for gene shuffling.
