UK-based company produces neodymium metal from oxide via electrolytic reduction process

Less Common Metals Ltd. (LCM; Ellesmere Port, UK), a subsidiary of Great Western Minerals Group (GWMG; Saskatoon, SK), a manufacturer and supplier of rare earth–based metal alloys, has successfully produced neodymium metal from oxide using an electrolytic reduction process, GWMG announced. LCM has invested in electrolytic cells during the past year to increase its metal- and metal alloy–production capabilities.
