Report: China raises rare earth production quotas

China's mining authorities have increased the production quota of rare earth metals for 2014 to 105,000 m.t., about 12% higher than 2013's quota, reports say. The prior quota of 93,800 m.t had remained unchanged since 2011. China still accounts for the vast majority of the world's rare earths production, despite efforts to establish new mines in the US and Australia. China also announced plans to crack down on illegal rare earths recycling, reports add. The country's ministry of industry has asked local governments to regulate the sector. China exported 12,544...
