Protex buys US electronic chemicals firm

Protex International (Paris) says it has acquired Mereco Technologies Group (West Warwick, RI), including the Metachem Resins and DMS divisions. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Mereco and its subsidiaries manufacture and market high-performance formulated epoxies, urethanes, silicones, and materials for electronics applications. Mereco will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Protex. Mereco and another Protex subsidiary, Protavic, will provide Protex with the resources to grow in electronics markets, Protex says.
