KMG Acquires General Chemical's Electronic Chemicals Unit

KMG Chemicals says it has agreed to acquire the electronic chemicals business of General Chemical for $25.5 million in cash, including about $7 million of inventory and about $850,000 of assumed liabilities. The deal, which is expected to close by the end of March, includes a plant at Hollister, CA, and equipment related to the business at Bay Point, CA. General Chemical will retain ownership of the Bay Point facility but will manufacture electronic chemicals for KMG under a long-term toll agreement.
