Clariant Brings Lithium Battery Materials Plant Online in Quebec

Clariant's LFP production site at Candiac.  Clariant says its $78-million battery materials manufacturing plant at Candiac, PQ has begun operations. The plant produces carbon-coated lithium iron phosphate (LFP), a high-power cathode material for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries used in hybrid and electric vehicles, solar and wind energy storage and power tools.   At 2,500 m.t./year, the plant has enough capacity to produce batteries for about 50,000 electric vehicles or 500,000 hybrid-electric vehicles, Clariant says.
