AZ Electronic Materials reports lower sales and profits, sees softer pickup in demand

AZ Electronic Materials (Luxembourg) today reported a decline in first-half results on weaker sales and increased competition. AZ is a producer of high-purity specialty chemicals for the electronics market, used in integrated circuits (IC) and devices, flat-panel displays, and light-emitting diodes. Profit after tax in the six months to 30 June declined 17%, to $31.2 million, on sales down 5%, to $363.7 million.
