DSM Buys into Plastics Derived from Carbon Dioxide

DSM’s venture capital arm DSM Venturing says it has made an unspecified investment in Novomer (Ithaca, New York), a materials technology start-up. Novomer is developing a technology platform for producing performance polymers, plastics and other chemicals from carbon dioxide and renewable materials. The technology is based on the use of a proprietary catalyst system. DSM says in addition to the investment deal that it also plans to sign a cooperation agreement with Novomer.
