Arch to End BIT Molecule Production

Arch Chemicals says it will discontinue manufacturing its benzisothiazolinone (BIT) biocide molecule and begin sourcing the product from third-party suppliers, to reduce the overall cost of certain of its products in the industrial biocides business. Arch says it will close a BIT intermediates plant at Seal Sands, U.K. and downsize BIT and BIT blends manufacturing at its Huddersfield, U.K. site by the end of 2007.
