American Vanguard's Earnings Boosted by Higher Insecticide Sales

American Vanguard reported third-quarter net income of $4.6 million, up 28% from the year-ago quarter, on sales up 8%, to $73.8 million. Earnings of 16 cts/diluted share narrowly surpassed analysts’ estimates of 15 cts/share, as reported by Thomson Reuters (New York).   Results were driven by higher sales in the company’s insecticides business. “We continue to expand our international sales penetration… and we have successfully captured additional business in peanuts and sugarcane replacing a competing product that has been withdrawn...
