Evonik to Expand Functionalized Polybutadiene Capacity in Germany

 Evonik Industries says it will build a functionalized polybutadiene plant, which will allow the company to offer hydroxyl-functionalized polybutadiene for the first time to its customers in the adhesives and sealants market. The plant will be build at Marl, Germany, and will come on stream in the fall of 2012.  The plant’s capacity and the total investment were not disclosed.  The polybutadiene product is used primarily in sealing compounds for insulating glass windows and in adhesives for automobile manufacture.
