Mitsui Chemicals Restructures PU Business, Closes Chiba PPG Plant

Mitsui Chemicals today confirmed a major restructuring program for its polyurethanes (PU) business, which will involve sourcing isocyanates and other PU products from Sabic and rationalization of polypropylene glycol (PPG) manufacturing assets in Japan. “Our polyurethane business has been facing serious constraints and challenges due to the sluggish market conditions and over supply of polyurethane associated with additional production bases in China,” the company says.   A previously announced business alliance with Sabic, which involves Mitsui...
