Markets :: Plastics :: Toluene diisocyanate Bayer MaterialScience to Invest $120 Million for Baytown Upgrades5:01 AM MDT | May 4, 2011 | Lindsey Bewley Bayer MaterialScience says it plans to invest about $120 million at its Baytown, TX facility to upgrade its isocyanates and polycarbonate units and increase capacity through a series of environmental improvements and debottleneckings. The site has the capacity to produce about 660 million lbs/ year of methylene di-para-phenylene isocyanate (MDI), about 485 million lbs/year of toluene diisocyanate (TDI), and about 573 million lbs/year of polycarbonate resins, among other chemicals produced at the site.
