Markets :: Plastics :: Synthetic rubber Sinopec's Petchem Production Declines in First Half1:28 AM MDT | July 23, 2009 | Natasha Alperowicz China Petroleum & Chemical Corp.'s (Sinopec) statistics covering the first half of 2009 show sharp declines in the production of petrochemicals. Ethylene production was down 10% at 2.97 million m.t., compared with the first six months of 2008, while synthetic resins and fibers recorded declines of 4% and 8% to 4.7 million m.t. and 629,000 m.t. respectively. The numbers include 100%of production from YPC-BASF and Shanghai Secco, jv's with BASF and BP. Output of synthetic rubber was down 11% in the first half of this year at 409,000 m.t....
