Markets :: Plastics :: Synthetic rubber Mitsui Chemicals Starts up EPDM Plant5:39 AM MDT | May 15, 2008 | Deepti Ramesh Mitsui Chemicals says it has started commercial production of ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber at the company's No. 3 EPDM plant at Ichihara, Japan. The plant has capacity for 75,000 m.t./year and uses metallocene catalyst technology, Mitsui says. The plant increases Mitsui’s total EPDM production capacity to 120,000 m.t./year, the company says. Construction of the plant began in August 2006, Mitsui says. EPDM is used in automotive parts, electric wire sheathings and cables, and other industrial parts. Mitsui expects rapidly rising...
