Lanxess Reduces Butyl Rubber Production in Canada and Europe

Lanxess says it is reducing butyl rubber production at its Zwijndrecht, Belgium; and Sarnia, ON sites due to a decline in demand. The plants will either be operating at reduced capacity or will be temporarily shutdown in the coming months, which will allow for routine maintenance work, Lanxess says. Some 360 employees will be affected. Flexible working time arrangements, such as reduced overtime and the use of annual vacation, will be implemented in Canada while employees at the Belgian site will be put on short-time working, the company says.
