Argentina's chemicals output up 2.6% during the first quarter

Chemical production in Argentina was up 2.6% during the first quarter of this year compared with the same quarter in 2012, according to figures released by state statistics office Indec (Buenos Aires). The report did not include specific volume or sales figures. First-quarter output of polymers and synthetic rubber was up 0.9% compared with the prior-year period. However, outputs of agchems, basic chemicals, and industrial gases were 1.2%, 4.5%, and 3.5% lower, respectively, compared with the same quarter the year before.
