Markets :: Plastics :: Synthetic rubber Lanxess to invest €80 million to switch to S-SBR production in Brazil7:23 AM MST | March 5, 2013 | Deepti Ramesh Lanxess says that, following a previously announced feasibility study, it has decided to convert production of emulsion styrene butadiene rubber (E-SBR) used in standard tires to solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (S-SBR) used in high-performance green tires at its site at Triunfo, in southern Brazil. Lanxess says it is the first company to carry out such a conversion. The switch in production technology will involve an investment of €80 million ($104 million) and the production capacity for S-SBR at Triunfo will be 110,000 m.t./year. The plant...
