Markets :: Plastics :: Synthetic rubber Asahi Kasei to Build Second SSBR Plant in Singapore2:00 AM MST | December 21, 2011 | Deepti Ramesh Asahi Kasei Chemicals (AKC), an Asahi Kasei subsidiary, has confirmed its plans to build a second solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (SSBR) plant with a production capacity of 50,000 m.t./year at Jurong Island, Singapore. The planned second plant is expected to become operational in January 2015. AKC, in June 2011, broke ground on a 50,000-m.t./year SSBR plant at Jurong Island and the plant is expected to become operational in May 2013.
