Markets :: Plastics :: Polyvinyl chloride Target Stores to Reduce PVC and PFOA Use11:45 AM MST | November 9, 2007 | Nancy Seewald Target (Minneapolis) says it will reduce use of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and phthalates in certain products sold under its brand name during 2008. The retailer did not cite a reason for the move, which comes about a year after environmental groups launched a campaign to pressure Target to phase out PVC in toys, packaging, and other applications (CW, Oct. 11/18, 2006, p. 33). Target says it will eliminate PVC from plastic baby bibs and phthalates from baby changing tables by January 2008, as well as phase out phthalates in most toys by the fall of 2008. The...
