Target Stores to Reduce PVC and PFOA Use

Target (Minneapolis) says it will reduce use of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and phthalates in certain products sold under its brand name during 2008. The retailer did not cite a reason for the move, which comes about a year after environmental groups launched a campaign to pressure Target to phase out PVC in toys, packaging, and other applications (CW, Oct. 11/18, 2006, p. 33).
