Markets :: Plastics :: Polyvinyl chloride Shintech to Start Up PVC Unit Soon12:02 PM MDT | July 14, 2008 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Shintech, a Shin-Etsu Chemical subsidiary, is expected to begin production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) at an integrated chlor-alkali and vinyls complex near Plaquemine, LA in late July or early August, market sources say. The complex was initially slated to go online in May. Sources say the delay is not due to weak demand for PVC, as had been rumored earlier, however. North American PVC producers revised a July contract price increase from 4 cts/lb, to 8 cts/lb due to rising raw material and energy costs, sources...
