Shintech to Start Up PVC Unit Soon

Shintech, a Shin-Etsu Chemical subsidiary, is expected to begin production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) at an integrated chlor-alkali and vinyls complex near Plaquemine, LA in late July or early August, market sources say. The complex was initially slated to go online in May. Sources say the delay is not due to weak demand for PVC, as had been rumored earlier, however.
