PolyOne’s Earnings Slide on One-time Charges and Weak Vinyls

PolyOne reported third-quarter net income of $2.3 million (2 cts/share), down 88% compared to the same period last year. The most recent quarter included special charges totaling 12 cts/share. Sales were about flat, at $664.8 million. PolyOne’s non-vinyls and international color and engineered materials segments each reported growth in earnings and sales, but vinyls was hurt by weak residential and construction markets, the company says.
