PVC prices under pressure in Europe as ethylene declines in March

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) producers in Europe continue to struggle to maintain margins. The PVC market is currently balanced, so PVC prices are expected to remain relatively flat, according to IHS Chemical. The December 2013 contract price was about €1,000/m.t. ($1,373) del northwest Europe (NWE), and it edged up to about €1,015/ m.t. del NWE in January. Western European producers of PVC were seeking price increases during February contract price negotiations, according to the latest IHS Chemical Europe Plastics and Polymers Market Advisory Service.
