Lawmakers Ask Obama to Replace CPSC Chief

Four Democrats have asked President Obama to replace Nancy Nord, head of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, saying she “grossly mishandled” a product safety law banning phthalates and lead in products intended for children under 12 years old. The February 3 letter, signed by Senator John D. Rockefeller (D., WV), Senator Mark Pryor (D., AR), Representative Henry Waxman (D., CA), and Representative Bobby Rush (D., IL), says Nord’s replacement is necessary in order to assure the successful implementation of the Consumer Product Safety...
