Markets :: Plastics :: Polyvinyl chloride Evonik Commissions 2-PH Plasticizer Alcohol Plant in Germany3:23 AM MDT | October 7, 2009 | Natasha Alperowicz Evonik Industries says it has completed construction of a 2-propyl heptanol (2-PH) plant at the Marl, Germany chemical park. The company invested a "high double-digit million euros" in the plant, which is designed to produce 60,000 m.t./year of 2-PH, a high molecular-weight plasticizer alcohol. The product is used as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plasticizer. Plasticized PVC based on 2-PH is used in cable insulation, tarpaulin fabrics, elastic floor coverings and in automotive parts.
