EU approves Ineos-Solvay chlorvinyls merger subject to PVC, EDC, chlor-alkali divestments

The European Commission says it has approved the proposed merger of the European chlorvinyls businesses of Ineos and Solvay, subject to the divestment by Ineos of suspension polyvinyl chloride (S-PVC) assets in France, Germany, and the Netherlands; ethylene dichloride (EDC) plants in Belgium and the United Kingdom; and a chlor-alkali unit in Belgium. The merged entity will also be required to form a joint venture with the purchaser to own and operate Ineos's chlor-alkali plant in the United Kingdom.
