Braskem Opens PVC Plant in Brazil

Braskem (São Paulo) says it opened its previously announced new 200,000-m.t./year polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plant at Marechal Deodoro in the state of Alagoas, Brazil, on August 17. The plant involved an investment of R$1 billion ($498 million)—the largest investment made by Braskem in a single project. “The inauguration of this unit is fundamental for meeting demand from our clients throughout Brazil operating in strategic sectors of the economy, such as home building, sanitation, and infrastructure,” says Carlos Fadigas, Braskem CEO...
