BorsodChem to Shut down PVC Processing Business

BorsodChem (Kazincbarcika, Hungary) says it has decided to close the company's money-losing polyvinyl chloride (PVC) processing business, Ablakprofil, with the loss of 82 jobs. Ablakprofil, which has accumulated losses of about $12 million over the last seven years, does not fit with the rest of BorsodChem's portfolio, the company says. BorsodChem's main products are methylene di-para-phenylene isocyanate and toluene diisocyanate. The company also has a PVC resin business, which is up for sale.
