Arkema to Close PVC Unit at Balan

Arkema says it plans to close a 30,000-m.t./year polyvinyl chloride (PVC) manufacturing unit at Balan, France. The facility is the smallest of three PVC plants at the site, which currently has a combined capacity for 325,000 m.t./year. Arkema has presented the plan to union representatives and plans to close the plant in the second quarter of 2010 with the loss of 9 jobs.
