Markets :: Plastics :: Polystyrene Ineos Nova to Shut Montreal Polystyrene Site1:13 PM MDT | October 16, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Ineos Nova says it will shut its 120-million lbs/year polystyrene (PS) plant at Montreal by the end of this year. The closure is a cost-saving move to consolidate PS production at more efficient manufacturing sites, says Kevin McQuade, CEO at Ineos Nova. The company is a 50-50 joint venture between Nova Chemicals and Ineos and began operations on October 1. Nova CEO and president Jeff Lipton indicated last month that 300 million-400 million lbs/year of the jv’s North American PS capacity would be taken offline to bring the market back to balance The company...
