Markets :: Plastics :: Polystyrene Dow Announces Further European PS Cuts10:28 AM MDT | July 29, 2008 | Rebecca Coons Dow Europe says it temporarily stopped production of all polystyrene (PS) grades at its 50,000-m.t./year Terneuzen, the Netherlands plant last week. Dow idled one of its two styrene units at Terneuzen last month, reducing the company’s European styrene production capacity by 40% (CW, June 30, p. 6). Dow says it will continue to run its other PS units in Europe at reduced rates. The company announced at the end of June that it had cut overall PS production rates by 15%.
