Markets :: Plastics :: Polystyrene BASF to Close PS Plant at Ludwigshafen5:39 AM MDT | June 25, 2009 | Deepti Ramesh BASF says it will permanently close a polystyrene (PS) plant at the company’s Ludwigshafen site by June 30, due to a decrease in demand for PS. This move will reduce BASF’s production capacity for PS in Europe by 80,000 m.t./year, to 540,000 m.t./year. The plant has been idled since mid-April. Employees working at the plant will be transferred to other positions within the company.
