Markets :: Plastics :: Polystyrene BASF to Close EPS Plant in Spain2:23 AM MDT | June 12, 2009 | Deepti Ramesh BASF says that it will shut down its expandable polystyrene (EPS) plant at Tarragona, Spain and that 85 jobs will be cut as a result of the closure. The plant has become uneconomical due to its relatively small production capacity which has resulted in an unfavorable cost-structure, BASF says. The closure is scheduled for August 2009. BASF says it will continue to supply the region with EPS from Ludwigshafen, Germany and intends to defend its market share BASF says it will also adjust the structure of production services at Tarragona due to the current downturn...
