Sahara Petrochemicals says that its Al Waha Petrochemicals subsidiary experienced a sudden technical interruption in the cooling water system on 14 February, which resulted in the shutdown of all the production units. Al Waha, a joint venture in which Sahara holds 75% and LyondellBasell 25%, has been dogged by technical problems. The company operates a 467,000-m.t./year UOP Oleflex propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit and a 450,000-m.t./year LyondellBasell Spherizone process polypropylene (PP) facility at Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
