Markets :: Plastics :: Polypropylene Sibur Buys Stake in Russian BOPP Firm; Awards EPC Contract to Tecnimont5:19 AM MST | December 4, 2009 | Natasha Alperowicz Sibur (Moscow) says it has a acquired a 50% stake in Biaksplen (Nizhnii Novgorod, Russia), Russia's leading producer of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP). Biaksplen operates three plants, based at Nizhnii Novgorod, Kursk, and Moscow, with combined capacity for 87,000 m.t./year of BOPP. Its 2008 sales reached R3.9 billion ($133.9 million). Sibur has also announced the award of an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Tecnimont for a previously announced propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant being built by Sibur's subsidiary...
