Opal petrochemical complex online in mid-2014; Aramco, IPIC possible partners

ONGC Petro Additions (Opal; Vadodara, India) expects to bring online its $4-billion petrochemical complex at Dahej, Gujarat State, India, in June or July next year, CW has learned. Makarand Dixit, head/marketing at Opal, tells CW that the dual-feed cracker, designed to produce 1.1 million m.t./year of ethylene and 340,000 m.t./year propylene, was completed about four months ago and “will be lying idle for about 12 months.” Dixit was speaking to CW on the sidelines of the K 2013 plastics fair, currently under way at Düsseldorf.
