Markets :: Plastics :: Polypropylene LyondellBasell to Close PP Plant in Italy3:35 AM MST | February 26, 2010 | Peter Mapleston LyondellBasell has told trade unions in Italy that it plans to close its 255,000-m.t./year, Spheripol-process polypropylene (PP) plant at Terni, north of Rome, before the end of this year. The plant has about 120 direct employees. The company says in a statement that it has has started the employee consultation process regarding a project to shut down the unit permanently. “Demand for polypropylene continues to be affected by global economic conditions and the resulting market environment has made facilities such as Terni no longer economically...
