Markets :: Plastics :: Polypropylene Ineos Shutters Two PP Units in the U.S.7:32 AM MST | November 10, 2008 | Natasha Alperowicz Ineos Olefins & Polymers USA says it intends to shut down two polypropylene (PP) bulk phase units at La Porte, TX by early 2009. The closure represents approximately 520 million lb/year of homopolymer and random copolymer capacity, the company says. One of the two lines will close by end of this year; the other by end of January. The move forms part of Ineos's effort to "strengthen its competitiveness in the U.S. PP assets," the company says.
